I never thought I would come to Kolkata so soon. I was not scared at all when I decided to move from a small town to a metro city like Kolkata. Though it is for a small period, still I wasn’t excited at all.
Kolkata made my first air travel possible. My flight was from Banglore and the chaos in Banglore was not seen in Kolkata.
Kolkata airport was very quiet. I was not prepared for this so I started introspecting.
Kolkata is a metro city. But Kolkata does not show pride in anyways about being a metro city.
Kolkata is a mixture of old and new. Kolkata did not abandon the old while accepting the new. Just like there is a metro here, there is a horse cart, there is a tram, there is a yellow taxi.
And this,
I felt like a king or a British ruler while sitting on this cart. I thought a lot of people were watching as we went. I was noticing. We blocked the traffic on the narrow road but no one blew the horn. instead, at one moment, the couple in a four-wheeler looked at me and smiled. Our car did not turn, instead, they turned their car around. As we passed one of the intersections, my map showed a different road, and that uncle was driving on the other side. I tried to speak to them but they started speaking in Bengali. Before sitting the cart, he conversed with me in fluent Hindi. Meanwhile, a group of four-five men from far away started telling us something. I told uncle with all my possible gesture and posture that he should put down the cart. I asked him about the money. He was literally gasping for breath. Instead of 40rs, I offered 100 rs. Later, to reach on my destination, I decided to walk and walked 3X times more than this journey.
Kolkata is an experimental city. The buildings here are of different colours and styles. The same experimentation was seen in the case of sweets. Since I am a sweet eater, Kolkata and I got along well.
Park Street: Both in the morning and at the night, park street was as energetic and beautiful. I was able to stay here late last year. Streets are meant to show the way.
Kolkata is an inspiration. It reminds what a man can do if he decides.
Thousands of indescribable archaic idols, beautiful paintings are there in Indian meseum.
I was awestruck after visiting Birla Science Meseum. Science is simplified here. I like that. Science is easily accessible. I watched the Birla planetarium show. Kolkata feeds me in a scientific way.
There are many things I can add to my trip. Soon I will be leaving this city. The city is made up of different living and non-living creatures. I have received so much love and respect from everyone in many forms that I shall never forget.
I hope I will have the qualities that Kolkata has.
